Abstract

A survey of avifauna diversity in various habitats of Osun State University, College of Agriculture Ejigbo, was
conducted between October, 2017 and January, 2018 using line transects method. A total of seventy-three
(73) birds species belonging to fifteen (15) orders and forty-one (41) families were recorded. Thirty-seven (37)
birds species belonging to eleven (11) orders were recorded in the farmland. In the agroforestry area, fifty
(50) birds species belonging to twelve (12) orders were recorded while forty-one (41) bird species belonging
to twelve (12) orders and twenty-nine (29) bird species belonging to ten (10) orders were recorded in the
livestock/fish farm and the disturbed area respectively. The abundance of bird species were higher in
Farmland and Agroforestry areas compared to Livestock/Fish farm and Disturbed areas and this was
significantly different between the four land use types (F=23.53, p<0.001).
